a division of Southern Ute Community Action Programs, Inc.
Mission Statement
SUCAP Youth Services aims to encourage youth to postpone substance abuse involvement by building positive relationships and offering positive, safe & alternative activities.
Service Overview
The primary purpose of the SUCAP Youth Services program division is to
postpone and reduce alcohol and substance use/abuse among youth. Most
activity occurs in Ignacio, and involves direct services to youth: recreational
and educational, service learning, and incorporates experiential and
traditional education all with prevention components built in.
Programs and activities target youth ages 12-18 years (with a few exceptions). Most of these programs and processes are evidence-based. This means that they follow practices or a specific program model that has been proven to reduce substance use. In conjunction with the Boys & Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Ignacio youth activities serve the SUIT teen population.
